Aashish Chopra and Jason Lyon’s story started during an HIV/AIDS
volunteer exchange program with CWY (Canada World Youth) and SPYM
(Society for the Promotion of Youth and Masses). The exchange took
place in London, Canada and New Delhi, India.
During the program Aashish and Jason met for the first time. The 6
month program entailed many things, everything from being educated in
the field of HIV/AIDS to learning how to live with 20 people you
haven’t met before. Aashish educated youths in classrooms with the
facts of HIV/AIDS and Jason worked with under privileged youth on the
streets of London.
Our concept videos and multi-media projects didn’t begin until our
arrival in India. This began the story of SAYCONDOM.ORG
Provoking the Thought…
During the preparation of an HIV/AIDS media seminar, we discovered
several things. Over the last 20 years the media has produced
stereotypes due to the lack of knowledge towards the disease and how
it actually spreads, as well most people don’t know what critical
thinking is.
You can’t take everything you see and read at face value, many people
still believe it’s a gay, drug using, African disease.
Since the pandemic started in the early 80’s, there has been a decline
in the amount of media coverage across North America
